Detroit may be known as the birthplace of Motown, but the city also has a growing restaurant scene, too. Ivy Kitchen + Cocktails is a quaint, upscale establishment with plenty of mouthwatering dishes, including a charred prime ribeye, sesame ginger salmon, shrimp scampi, as well as a berry pomegranate cheesecake that will have you licking your spoon.

Making delicious meals since 2019, Owner and Detroit native, Nya Marshall, brought Ivy Kitchen and Cocktails to life in the Jefferson Chalmers neighborhood of Detroit. When Nya first bought the restaurant building, it was covered in the ivy plant, thus inspiring the name.

Spring entertaining — eating, cooking, drinking and home decor — was the topic of Wednesday night's first in-person Dish and Design event since 2019.

Guests at the Great Lakes Culinary Center in Southfield were treated to not only demonstrations from area chefs and hosting experts, but also food, beverages and plenty of super giveaways.

In November 2019, Nya Marshall opened this East Village neighborhood spot on Jefferson Avenue noted for its cocktail menu, home of the $8 happy hour and an American-fusion menu featuring small plates, sides and entrée options. On the menu, you'll find house specialties of sesame ginger salmon, prime-aged ribeye and smoked salmon deviled eggs. The inspiration to open the Ivy Kitchen and Cocktails, Marshall says, was her love for the community and a desire to bring quality food options to the neighborhood she grew up in.

For nearly 30 years, the two buildings on the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Belvidere Street in East Village stood vacant. But as of late December, the smaller of the two is now a fine-dining restaurant, serving up fusion dishes like wonton tacos, mezcal wings, and charred whole Branzino — something in short supply on this stretch of Jefferson.

Ivy Kitchen + Cocktails, located just down the street at 9215 E. Jefferson, Detroit, gives guests a luxury dining experience while sitting on plush blue velvet seats.

The kitchen features an all-American, diverse menu cooked by Chef Jon Peterson, who recently was invited to compete on the Food Network’s Beat Bobby Flay. Top items include sesame ginger salmon, burgers and brunch foods, the latter of which is served 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Owner Nya Marshall said a must-try on the food menu is the Sweet Chili Thai Chicken, a locally sourced dish that is brined for 48 hours.

(WXYZ) — A Detroit woman is buying back her neighborhood — one brick at a time.

On Monday, we’ll introduce you to Nya Marshall. She’s investing in the neighborhood she grew up in — and she’s not stopping there.

Marshall bought a building, five blocks from West and Indian Village in Detroit and she plans to open a farm to table restaurant.

DETROIT – For those who prefer organic, grass-fed beef or farm-to-table veggies, a new restaurant on Detroit’s east side will provide just that.

Ivy’s Kitchen and Cocktails is the newest restaurant on Jefferson Avenue, right on Detroit’s east side.

Nya Marshall, with Ivy’s Kitchen and Cocktails, is proud of her roots.

vy Kitchen + Cocktails is a new upscale, farm-to-table restaurant on Detroit’s East side. But to one Detroiter, it’s also a dream that took seven years of hard work and much of her own savings to transform into reality. Owner Nya Marshall was working as a project manager for a local automotive company in 2014, when she bought a dilapidated building in her neighborhood.

A new farm-to-table restaurant is coming to the East Jefferson corridor, an area once neglected but quickly being revitalized.

Nya Marshall, serial entrepreneur and sustainability developer, is opening IVY Kitchen + Cocktails, a cost-friendly restaurant located in the East Village neighborhood, just east of the MacArthur Bridge to Belle Isle.

Fine dining has returned to Detroit’s East Village neighborhood. Just a hop, skip and jump from Belle Isle sits Ivy Kitchen + Cocktails. Owner Nya Marshall completely funded the revitalization of the once abandoned building to to an upscale eatery. Not only does she own the restaurant but she owns the building. #GirlBoss
